The proportion of trials in which randomly designated “late” amino acids represent a greater expansion from randomly designated “earlies” than the true late amino acids from the true earlies. The second row number in each section of the Venn diagram represents the results of the same test performed with Glycine and Alanine removed as outliers. The observed effect of late amino acids expanding the chemistry space of the early amino acids appears strongest in the dimension of size, both as an individual measure of chemistry space and in combination with other descriptors.
